Junichi Nakahara and his candy girls

I’m always amazed if a man can draw such sweet-candy girls. I wonder what’s in his brain that make him draws so girly…

Junichi Nakahara, a successful illustrator for Japanese women magazine after the Second World War.  His drawings had great impact on the aesthetic of women in that era. His girls are much different from general Japanese women though… the eyes are so big…more like Audrey Hepburn. Anyway, his drawings are colourful and pretty which are pleasant for eyes.

He was more than a illustrator actually. He encouraged  women to embrace their life by teaching them styling, home decor, cherishing themselves… etc. He did a great job in comforting the hearts of the post-war women.

He was also a fashion designer, interior designer, doll maker…and the father of “bling bling big eyes” girls in nowadays’ Manga.
